This study of electrodes mainly focuses on the development of earth-abundant materials fabricated by a simple hydrothermal process. This project describes the development of highly stable and efficient battery electrodes from different metal oxides from manganese and molybdenum. A cation exchange mechanism is proposed and validated in this thesis where the cations trapped in the electrodes and exchanged during aluminum-ion intercalation and extraction.
